Know It All About CELPIP Test

CELPIP i.e. Canadian English Language Proficiency Index program, as the name suggests, is a test accepted in Canada. As with the test of any language, CELPIP- general has four parts; Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. This test is for those who are seeking PR i.e. permanent residency in Canada. This is IRCC approved test for PR status.
This is around 3 hours long test and does not include any separate speaking session. This, too, like PTE-A, is a computer delivered test and has certain features like personal timer, word counter and spell check. The result of this test is delivered within 5 days of taking the test. This test is assessed as per CLB level where a CLB level of 12 shows the highest proficiency whereas M shows minimal proficiency or insufficient information to assess. In listening module of CELPIP there are 6 parts including a number of questions. The candidate has to listen to variety of scenarios like listening for problem solving, to daily life conversations, for seeking or giving information, to a news item, to a discussion and to viewpoints.
It takes 47-55 minutes to complete this section. The reading part takes 55-60 minutes and includes a number of questions based on reading comprehension, reading to apply on a diagram, reading for information and reading for viewpoints.
The writing test has 2 components; one is writing an email on a given topic and the other is responding to survey questions. It takes another 53-60 minutes to complete this section.
The last section is speaking which takes 15-20 minutes in total. It has questions related to the topics of giving advice, talking about a personal experience, describing a scene, making predictions, comparing and persuading, dealing with a difficult situation, expressing opinions and describing an unusual situation.
