CELPIP i.e. Canadian English Language Proficiency Index program, as the name suggests, is a test accepted in Canada. As with the test of any language, CELPIP- general has four parts; Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. This test is for those who are seeking PR i.e. permanent residency in Canada. This is IRCC approved test for PR status.
This is around 3 hours long test and does not include any separate speaking session. This, too, like PTE-A, is a computer delivered test and has certain features like personal timer, word counter and spell check. The result of this test is delivered within 5 days of taking the test. This test is assessed as per CLB level where a CLB level of 12 shows the highest proficiency whereas M shows minimal proficiency or insufficient information to assess. In listening module of CELPIP there are 6 parts including a number of questions. The candidate has to listen to variety of scenarios like listening for problem solving, to daily life conversations, for seeking or giving information, to a news item, to a discussion and to viewpoints.
